Relaxing in Bozeman

On a trip like this, it’s important to work in day of rest and repair. The camper’s not the only old thing on this journey that could use some down time after putting on so many miles. Also, the mental toll of making sure we make it to the next campsite or reservation on time is draining. A few days of unscheduled leisure, at a place with a generous host (not to mention a shower and washer and dryer), is just what the doctor ordered. Enter Aunt Carol.

Carol lives in Bozeman on a beautiful property with her daughter’s Joanne’s family. They were, unfortunately, not there, but were generous enough to let us crash in their driveway, use their ping-pong table and pet their cats. Carol met us on arrival, told us where to set up, and then fed us dinner.

Over the next few days we sat around, played with the cats, restocked, cleaned up, swam, hiked, watched the horses, ate ice cream, talked, and played lots of games. Chinese Checkers is a new favorite of the kids. It was a glorious few days of recharging our batteries before heading to Yellowstone, and it was perfect. Thank you, Aunt Carol—we all look forward to our next game of pick-up sticks.
