Where the Buffalo Roams

Our home for nine weeks.

Welcome to the home of our cross-country National Parks summer of 2022 travel blog. I'll try to do some prep posts about the massive amounts of planning we've done, the gear and equipment we're using, logistics, routes and maps, etc. So check in every now and then. When our trip kicks off in late June is when I hope things will get real interesting around here.

This will be a great place to share our journey with family and friends, but it will also serve as a travel journal as well, an additional way to record this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Happy to have you along for the ride.

The title? That references our vintage camper. Built in 1967, the Apache Buffalo is a super-light bare-bones pop up tent trailer. We purchased it in 2020 for $900 and have done a lot of work on it to get it travel-ready. I'll be doing more than a few posts about that undertaking. But since we'll be towing it across the country and back, I thought that old line from "Home on the Range" was the perfect fit:

Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam

Where the deer and the antelope play.

Where seldom is heard a discouraging word

And the skies are not cloudy all day.

Sounds good to me. See you soon.
